Photo Blogging, My Starting Point

Blog. That kind of word I thought about three years ago, now become one of my routine activity. Not because the blog has raised some money as commonly discussed over online forums, but more to actualizing what I feel and what I want to share to the world. It’s more like diary for me, but hopefully it’s not likely to “cat blogs” which once stated by Seth Godin.

I have a cellular phone with a simple VGA digital camera attached to it. I used to take pictures from my surroundings which I considered quite interesting to capture. There are hundreds of photos stored in my computer within a year and I realized that no one have ever seen them except myself. I want to share them with other people, but previously had no idea where to start. Those photos are nice, but not quite fit the minimum quality requirements for the local photography mags.

The idea of blog caught my interest as it can be used effectively to disperse the information worldwide. I can upload any media that I have, including pictures and send them to million of viewers simultaneously. Fortunately, the costs of building a blog are less than five bucks because there are many blog services that offer free registration. I choose wordpress since they have simple and user friendly interface. For photo storage, Flickr is the most preferable service.

Since then, I started to upload those pictures to Flickr and view it on my wordpress account. I can share a picture and give some paragraph to told the story about it. Someday, I dream to develop it into a photography blog. Just like the PhotographyBlogger site that serves the essentials of photo blogging. They seemed to have broad information about how to reproduce photos which deserves their right to be shown over the internet. And such thing is I want to have the most.

Care to get free wordpress blog?

Oggix.org has been around 3 months offering free wordpress blog for everyone that cares to blog freely. Unlike other free blogs, oggix give us eligibility to put adsense code there as well as other pay per click or pay per impression (or whatever that you can get some money of it). I made 3 blogs under that domain, and I proud to say here, it is a generic name (LOL .. for you that love to hang around at digitalpoint’s forums, you must be familiar with the ‘generic’ term for domain), below is my blog under oggix.org: yourname.oggix.org, paidby.oggix.org and poweredby.oggix.org, great name isn’t it?

The Bother of Blogging

Let me tell you something honest, and from the heart, straight off: I have a real admiration for bloggers. No really, I do. Not the spam bloggers, obviously, but the bloggers who really care about their audience, no matter how many RSS feed subscribers they have or how little money they are making from advertising and paid reviews on the blog.

If you’re reading any type of blog that has good content, and that you enjoy reading, you know that one thing’s for sure: the writer has stuck it through the hardest part of being a blogger – the beginning, when you first set up your blog. You know that no-one is listening to what you’re saying, yet you still need to create quality content so that in the future people realise that your blog is worth subscribing to. And at the same time as writing your socks off to try and add some quality content to your blog, you’re trying to promote your blog like there’s no tomorrow in the hope that you’ll get at least a couple of interested readers. If you’re in this stage of early blogging, then keep your head up – it’ll be worth it in the end!
